The Srikandi Dinner

*from my other blog at Dilla Speaks Out

It has to be said: I had loads of fun that night… What night? 1st of April 2006. The night I got to see my friends of 18 years.. Friends from the past.. Friends from STF.. (Of course, girls.. Anuar Zain kinda had a part in all that fun .. heh heh..)

Stf_50_yrs

STF is celebrating its 50th year in 2006. As part of its Golden Jubilee Celebration, the alumni association; Srikandi Tun Fatimah ; had lined up a string of activities which included the Majlis Makan Malam Perdana ( and Anuar Zain) at the Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel. I took charge and gathered some friends from my batch to attend the affair. The turnout was quite good — there were the 6 month pregnant Fara, Dr. Farhi Ain, Tina, Iza & Kynne — engineers from TNB, Petronas and Telekom respectively, "Che’ gu" Suhailiza, Lin H and yours truly at my table. On another table, quite far far away from us (they got the corporate table, you see) were Alin and the gang. The occupants of that darn-lucky-table-who-got-to-oogle-Anuar-Zain-up-close were: Alin (main sponsor seeker), Edikok, Rina, Ardena, Linda (and hubby), Fifi and another 6-month-preggie, Aske’ — I think I’ve covered everyone. It was quite a huge achievement for Batch ‘92 ‘coz there were only 5 of us in the previous year’s dinner. (Yeay!)

There were the Royal Patron, Tunku Puan Pahang and her sisters, Minister of Education and his lovely wife, ex-teachers, current teachers, other alumni representatives and loads and loads of Srikandis. Entertainment was in the form of:

1.Srikandis singing a medley of popular songs from the 50s to the present reign of King Mawi.

2. Very very young Srikandis (those who sat for their SPM in 2005) parading a fashion show of STF uniforms from the ’50s till present.

3. A.N.U.A.R Z.A.I.N

So, the agenda of the night was pretty simple: good food, great entertainment and friendly company. People were busy mingling, jejak kasih was happenning all around the ballroom, chit-chat and big hugs all around. We catched up each other’s lifes, wondered why is Fahrin seated at the table across the room (hmm???), mis-identified our Biology teacher (malu… malu….) and basically oogled at Anuar Zain some more. Quite a night, I must say…

Hmmm… Maybe we could get 3 tables for next year’s dinner.
