Famous Famiglia

Two of our family members can be found making news and in the news last month - Sorrylah, lambat update. Cerita almost basi. hihihihi But, not too basi actually coz a former office-mate asked me about this particular newspaper clipping yesterday during breakfast.

My 5th sister Ewa's claim to fame - Erti bahagia buat Salimah Utusan Malaysia Mega page 25 on one of the days sometime last month; or you can read it from the online newspaper link above. They got her name and age wrong, but it was definitely my very pregnant little sister there, looking all glowy and radiant.. :)
What gave her away was her (almost right) full-name. Azlul Wadzihah Zaghlol. Hmm.. tell me the truth. How many of you knows another Zaghlol who has a 20-something year old daughter? (I think there is 30-something year old Zaghlol running around doing his errands somewhere in KL, but I doubt he has a 20-something year old daughter) My dad's name kinda linked me to her. That's how my ex-office mate made the connection. *Duhh!*

This second story appeared in Golf Malaysia March 2009 edition (page 22). The boy in the orange t-shirt, blue pants and creme cap is none other than Master Kaliff Akhyar Wafi Nazrin - my very own nephew. He's Kalilah's first born and the story was about how he had gathered 80 autographs on his shirt and cap from players in the Maybank Malaysian Open 2009. He even got autographs from Danny Chia and Anthony Kim. On top of that, he has also collected gloves, 20 balls and caps. Pretty impressive, eh? Last I heard, they were gonna frame these prized possessions for him.

Sekian, Berita Nasional Basi Jam 6.

A Tribute to Ayah Teh

Today marks one month since our Ayah Teh Zohdi left us due to cancer. Me and the hubster just came back from a kenduri arwah at Mak Teh's place in Bandar Kinrara.

His was a very sudden death, something like 2 days after we found out that he had the "C" and the actual passing.. I can distinctly recall that fateful Monday when I got the sms telling me that he did not have much time left. Hubby picked me up from office and we headed to the High Dependency Ward in HKL to pay him a visit. The ward only allowed 2 visitors at a time, so most of his were literally setting camp outside. There were many relatives and friends reciting Yaasin and taking turns to be by his bedside. Even the Chief of Police came by that day. All his 6 beautiful girls were around him, with the elder ones and Mak Teh softly whispering "Laa ila ha illallah" in his right ear. He was so blessed in that way..

Even the preparation for his burial was smooth and easy. I remember thinking that he really looked like he was peacefully sleeping when they opened up his kain kapan prior to the actual burial.

Ayah Teh (he's the one in the big rimmed specs) made the news when he went back to school to get his Law Degree sometime in the 90s. At that time, both him and Ayah De were doing Law and Ayah Cu (who is about 20 years their junior) were all studying in UIA. So they made the news, lah. I always remembered him as a jovial person. A man of not that many words, but very loving indeed.

Semoga rohnya dicucuri rahmat. Rest well, dearest Ayah Teh.

Al-Fatihah..

I'm In The News!!!!

*from my other blog at Dilla Speaks Out

Big moment in history — I am in the NEWS!!!! Wassap????? Heh heh heh.. Still in a daze, somewhat.. Can’t believe it still… Glamour tak? :) For the benefit of you guys who did not have a chance to get the hardcopy, here it is in the softcopy form… courtesy of Nadya, the e-browse product owner. :) (Thank you, sissy)

Been waiting for Tuesday since last Saturday. That was when the article was due for. Izza, the KOSMO! journalist was looking around the workshop last weekend. She was looking for the face-painter her friend told her about. Hmmmmmm, that sounds like me.. She is looking for ME! :) So, we had the interview thing and I promised to send some pictures to her for the piece. Pictures were taken by Kira, of course, my trusted apprentice.

And then, Tuesday came. Got to get my KOSMO!Got to get my KOSMO! When I entered mynews.com (located at the Lower Ground of Menara Telekom) this morning, my heart was skipping a beat. (Btw, you can’t get any more from there now. Lily got the last copy at noon. heh heh heh) Reached for the first KOSMO! in sight and I quickly skimmed through the pages to see if the article made it. Would it be a small one, a full-page coverage or what?

Then I saw the image of Ariff, the brave kid who wanted a full-faced skull last Saturday. Hmmm, that’s familiar. True enough.. there was yours truly , looking pretty professional beside him. IT’S ME!!!!!! What a rush… I brought bought two copies and ran back up to the lobby to get my hubby… grinning all the way… heh heh heh

It made my day, really. Showed the half-page article to the whole office (GM included) and I was smiling the whole freaking morning.. (and afternoon) SMSed some people about it and got some pretty wild responses. My brother-in-law even asked for a quotation for his annual dinner. Wassap??? Way to get the business going… (BIG HUMONGOUS Smiles…) Hmmm.. I might just afford that professional Krayolan kit after all…

Me? I am pretty high on the piece itself. Need some space to let the reality sink in and live among the mortals again.. heh heh heh
