I have tried a couple of overnight oats recipes before this, but for this Ramadan I decided to go hunting for a new one and stumbled upon this one on <a href="https://wholefully.com/8-classic-overnight-oats-recipes-you-should-try/" target="_blank">Wholefully</a>. They have a classic recipe which serves as the base recipe upon which you could whip up some other flavours to make it more interesting. The classic recipe calls for the normal stuff like rolled oats, milk and greek yogurt. For flavour, they also add some other ingredients such as maple syrup, salt and vanilla extract. They also add some superfood goodness of chia seeds or grounded flax seed to thicken the mixture. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
For today's sahur, however, I didn't add the chia seed (coz I don't have any with me today, will add them in my next batch) and skipped on the suggested flavouring scheme and went with Kurma Milk instead. (Totally knicked this idea from @rinsramli as I bumped into her while going to the groceries to get the stuff for this recipe yesterday). So that made my base recipe. </div>

To make matters slightly more interesting for @azrulx this morning, we tried the banana chocolate chip variety. I put the chocolate chips in the mixture the night before together with the base recipe. Come sahur time, I quickly sliced half a banana and poured some granola mix on top of it. </div>

There were some others too that was an interesting combination but a bit too adventurous for my taste profile. These include the Carrot Cake and Pumpkin Spice flavours. OK, Selamat mencuba. Do tell me how you would like to have your Overnight Oats. ;)<br />

It is not always easy being different. And it is obviously extremely difficult when you have two overachieving siblings who amass medals and trophies like bees collecting nectar. They have, like a lot! I kid you not! My number two came to me a couple of times already stating a matter-of-factly that he does not get many medals nor trophies. Not like Khadra or Khaleeda in their various co-curricular activities. On occasion, he would get upset that he "never wins anything". In a more extreme incidence, he feels so demotivated and dejected that he would tell me that I should just put him up in an orphanage somewhere because he does not fit to be in our family due to his lack of achievements. :( He gets over dramatic sometimes, but when this is how it makes him feel, it really makes me feel sad too. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
We have had numerous talks on achievements with Khaleeq - be it about being just a part of something i.e. participating, finishing something difficult and about winning. How it is equally important to show good sportsmanship, about being proud on beating your own limitations and doing better than your last performance, rather than fixated on just winning the top prize. We also talked about how achievements, more often than not, comes with sheer hard work. Just look at how many hours a week Khaleeda puts in for her rhythmic gymnastics, cheer, ballet and tarian practices. It gets even more intense nearing a competition or a show. So, in order to reap the glory, he really needs to work hard. He said he was up for the challenge and so, the quest for something that he could actually participate in, enjoy doing and maybe travel for begins.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
From friends' recommendations we found the <a href="http://www.livemoreevents.com/" target="_blank">livemore event series</a> and I went ahead and signed him up for all the remaining Aquathlon and Triathlon events for this year. His first event was an aquathlon (200m swimming and 2km running) in Alice Smith School a couple of weeks ago. Specifically for this, he attended running training with Coach Lini (twice a week) and swimming training with Coach Nur (once a week). At this point, our focus is more on practicing the correct way to run and building stamina - awakening all the sleepy muscles that hasn't very much to do all this while (he does have some balancing and coordination challenges too) and correcting his swim techniques. To prepare for the cycling portion of the triathlon, Azrul had taken the lead to teach him how to ride a bike and he successfully cycled on his own within 2 sessions. Yeayyy!!! We also came as an observer in an earlier triathlon event at Nexus International and attended the pre-competition workshop to familiarise with the transition and whole race setup. So, basically we were ready. Insya Allah. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">

<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="clear: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
So the day finally came for his first aquathlon event and we were there bright and early and feeling nervous. Well, I had butterflies in my tummy. hihihihihi The aim was not yet to be in the middle or leading pack for the Under15 boys category. It was more to set his base timing and more importantly to finish and finish strong! To earn his first aquathlon finisher medal. Just looking at him with his bib number stamped his arms made me smile. Wouldn't it make you too? I was just already so proud of him. Can't believe we were actually doing this. :)</div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Style sangat shot keluar pool ni<br />

</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
His swimming portion was steady and very consistent. Wasn't in the leading nor the middle pack. Whilst the others raced on in their speedy front crawls, Khaleeq took his time doing 200m worth of breaststroke, not even stopping for awhile. When he got tired, he did a back crawl or a dog paddle then back to his trusted breast stroke. By the time most of the participants come out of the pool, he had around 75m to go. And when he was out of the pool, the last person still had about 50m of swimming to complete. He was actually looking back and wanted to wait for the boy to finish before we urged him on. </div>

Transition was OK and he started with his running portion next. After the first KM or so, Azrul joined him on the road en route to the tracks to finish up his first ever Aquathlon. We were so, so proud of him already for taking on this challenge. Even more so for finishing so strong. He remembered the tips Coach Lini told him for running - for keeping his posture, running tall and swinging his hands and that last dash was just priceless. </div>

Hey there!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Been a long, long while, hasn't it? Well, let me keep you updated with the family status right now. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Me - currently maintaining my weight circa 58-59kg. Always that topic, kan? The constant battle of staying on the right side of the scale. I don't really know since the weighing scale in the bathroom has been showing "Err" since a month back. kikikiki. I do remember that time when I weighed 66kg way back when. So maintaining this is good, but it could be better. Have had a HHTA (Hot Hot Chicken Shit for the uninitiated) attempt to finish the Bikini Body Guide (BBG) for the first time ever a couple months back but yeah, that didn't happen. hahahaha. I might find some flicker of drive to restart it one day. Maybe. Been eating fairly healthily. Alhamdulillah. I used to cook a lot when we first moved into the new house. Now my schedule is kinda haywire with the kids schedule, mostly. What else is new, right? There has been a little bit of travelling too. Will get into it when we get into it later, ok? </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Inche Suami - well he is Turning 40 this year. Alhamdulillah. Generally healthier now. Double alhamdulillah. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhTHVJGQptNtyCAkx1IGsydDiBhEGBsqmFCtj7hi_rzHt9NlPina_-FLJ0ToHvFVpsfFoYsIvRYYuagZjzvKXKGolEbOhI_1y3qpPjIp7i-GMztS4KCNBmevSSRPJRHXCwc84f/s1600/IMG_3019.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhTHVJGQptNtyCAkx1IGsydDiBhEGBsqmFCtj7hi_rzHt9NlPina_-FLJ0ToHvFVpsfFoYsIvRYYuagZjzvKXKGolEbOhI_1y3qpPjIp7i-GMztS4KCNBmevSSRPJRHXCwc84f/s320/IMG_3019.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
Khadra - Off to a boarding school now. It's her second year now. She is exploring new things like orchestra and choral speaking ; as well as pursuing things that she already loves - dancing, singing and Girl Guiding. So that is keeping her busy. Like really busy. Alhamdulillah.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>

Khaleeq - Finishing off his first year of secondary school in a couple of weeks! Can't believe it!! We are currently working on quite a bit with him. The main one is his triathlon series to boost his morale and also to work on the physical side. He has also started taking formal art classes to explore his creativity. Academics are also on the plate. Well a little bit of it, at least. hahahaha The final one in the mix is his scouting activities for his social skills, discipline and teamwork. Interesting to see how these individual projects pan out. </div>

Khaleeda - My ever so busy little diva. Still doing a lot of things this year - ballet, rhythmic gymnastics, cheerleading, dance, running, drama, recycle art club etc. Trying to get her to slot in some study time too to balance it all out. Lots of stories to tell about her.<br />

Kharis Jawhar - he just turned two a week back! So yeah! That's gonna be a post on its own! hahaha</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I plan to write quite regularly from now on. By regular, maybe a post a week kinda regular. (Let's not over promise now shall we) Mainly coz I miss writing. (Haaa!! Dan rindu tulis audit report lettew. Sapa suruh resign???? hahahahaha) Also coz I don't want to forget the good and bad memories in my life. I used to write and write a lot. I wrote about my early miscarriages after Khaleeda. Both of them, I think. And as I read the posts, I was taken back to that time when it happened just like it was yesterday. However, I kinda slacked off from blogging after that and I didn't even write about the pregnancy with the twins. Yes, they were the ones expected to be delivered around a year before Kharis was born. That was when my heart was broken to a million pieces. I kinda remembered it in general but no detailed recollection of what actually happened, blow by blow, you know. So I kinda regret not penning that down. So yeah. Let's try. Insya Allah. Here's to more writing. </div>

As at the time I am writing this, there is already another addition to our family. It's been a while, really, because baby Kharis Jawhar just turned 9 months yesterday. :) He has been fully breastfed and I was really, really looking forward to feeding him when he turned 6 months. So, a couple of days before he turned 6 months, I went out and get myself a Beaba Baby Cook. I actually wanted the SOLO model but the store had run out of stock. So, this is what we got: </div>
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKGptu59Dxe6h3W6Fxmk8xxcdw42MQOfWnF_qGOGWVq6pfxhl__LAnxLRGeDYvfPR_LQPDEQ4DW6RdPa-zUQ3ofNuRaDdRrMtWDp5Bu_JJ7u4r-N7ffBjTLq9OfE3eebaoJyNQ/s1600/Beaba+BabyCook.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKGptu59Dxe6h3W6Fxmk8xxcdw42MQOfWnF_qGOGWVq6pfxhl__LAnxLRGeDYvfPR_LQPDEQ4DW6RdPa-zUQ3ofNuRaDdRrMtWDp5Bu_JJ7u4r-N7ffBjTLq9OfE3eebaoJyNQ/s640/Beaba+BabyCook.JPG" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I was armed now. To introduce him to solids, I started puree-ing mainly fruits and vegetables, one flavour at a time, whilst looking out for any possible signs of allergy. Using the Beaba Baby Cook made my life a whole lot easier too. The gadgets does the steaming and the blending for you, so that was really convenient. Once the puree is done, I batch freeze them in blobs of 60mls. The silicon freeze compartments are really easy to handle and facilitates </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
By trial and error, I stuck to feeding baby KJ at around 120ml per serving. He actually cried pretty loudly when I don't feed him enough. kikikikiki </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
We had apples, pears, bananas, sweet potatoes and carrots puree; amongst others. Then after, I started combining two flavours together. The ones that Kharis really liked were apple + pear, apple + banana, avocado + banana, strawberry + banana and sweet potato + carrot. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

Back after 3 years. And what an apt reason to start writing again, I have something to share. #sharingiscaring </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I have recently discovered the "Solat Tree" online and had begun using that for my two middle kids - Khaleeq and Khaleeda - last week. The concept is easy enough, the Solat Tree consists of a tree with 7 branches, each branch representing a day in the week. Each branch has 5 leaves, clearly marked for the five compulsory solat of the day. I wanted to train my kids to keep their solat, so this was what I did. I introduced them to the Solat Tree last Tuesday night and asked them to colour the first branch according to these rules:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
1. Colour the leaves of the solat that you performed GREEN</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
2. Colour the leaves of the solat that you missed RED</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So, after that exercise, Khaleeq had two reds and Khaleeda had three red leaves. To make matters more interesting, we collectively agreed that they will get to open a reward for getting 30 leaves green this week. With that in mind, we started to strategize. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I asked them the reason why they missed their prayers and if there were any way for them to make sure they can perform their prayers within the stipulated times. They said it was possible, so we deviced ways of doing so. Khaleeda for example has many activities after school, so we came up with specific strategies on how and when to perform her solat. For instance, she has gym class at a nearby community hall at 1pm. So, she plans forward and makes sure she brings her kain telekung, sejadah and slippers to practice. Takes her wudhu' before class starts and stops for a while after warmup to pray Zohor. We decided to setup a little prayer corner by the hall as the dedicated surau was quiet and a bit scary for little girls to be in alone. So, I had to help her figure out the kiblat direction that day and set up the sejadah ready for her. The point here is that I wanted to facilitate, we were trashing out issues so that they are able to keep their solat complete. Khaleeq had issues with Zohor as his school finishes in the evening. By the time he gets home, it would already be almost Asar. So he came up with the strategy to pray during lunch break, i.e around 1.45pm at the surau near the canteen. On days that he has sports, he would have to bring along his jubah. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcDMcBttvUAOJYI4rN16kCYuXiAWIvEwV_RHdZU_zOF5qXh8LGS8fuC3lCHf2MrzmAP4GZjWxrpOyf9p6ID-zaBO_uvrZ2CM7PLGIDquCpfgT7SL2JokSu95Y55UCpnoxMZ-nC/s1600/Solat+tree+insta.png" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="257" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcDMcBttvUAOJYI4rN16kCYuXiAWIvEwV_RHdZU_zOF5qXh8LGS8fuC3lCHf2MrzmAP4GZjWxrpOyf9p6ID-zaBO_uvrZ2CM7PLGIDquCpfgT7SL2JokSu95Y55UCpnoxMZ-nC/s400/Solat+tree+insta.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
As I shared this on my instagram feed (follow me if you hadn't already (@dillazag)) and Facebook, people were asking where I got the Solat Tree from. I thought to myself, "Hmmm.. maybe I should just redraw this and distribute" So here we are right now. I did just that - this is how my version of the Solat Tree:</div>

I'm beyond excited actually. Been looking forward to this trip for a while now so I guess that is expected right?<br />
<br />
I have been physically preparing myself for umrah trip with my parents mid march. It's gonna be quite a big group, my uncles and aunties mad cousins included. So psyched. <br />
<br />
Today, me and my besties Kynne and Mira went to Sri Munawwarah one stop Haji and umrah prep shop to get some of the essentials. Lemme share my lunchtime loot with ya. ;)<br />
<br />

So I thought to myself, "What a brilliant idea" So, our family had started saving up RM20 notes, RM5 notes as well as 50sen coins. <br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNiROqABTZKPaCKwMDFwaFGQKp1i5oASlqhhbYy7sKtk4avi6rLqrP0cBcwEj_UDl1gCYhUc274oAveXGokT0L__b_8Ep58AIVT3NSviiVxZUljoqAhuMAmOd5wtiOd-KWuLLn/s640/blogger-image--1679937080.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNiROqABTZKPaCKwMDFwaFGQKp1i5oASlqhhbYy7sKtk4avi6rLqrP0cBcwEj_UDl1gCYhUc274oAveXGokT0L__b_8Ep58AIVT3NSviiVxZUljoqAhuMAmOd5wtiOd-KWuLLn/s640/blogger-image--1679937080.jpg" /></a> <br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The rules are simple. Everytime you chance upon the denomination of choice, set it aside and keep them. By then end of the year, count it up and use it for whatever you desire - a simple family dinner or outing, to a full-blown vacation, presents for each member of the family, etc. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Why RM20 and RM5 did you ask? I hardly get them. As change, I mean. If I had opted for RM50, that would automatically rule out cash withdrawals from ATM. hihihihi. Not saving RM1 either, because that is the denomination used for the kids' school allowance. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Started to collect 50sen as well as I wanted the kids to be part of this as well. A friend of mine was just relating her own experience on saving 50sen coin - she got about RM573 at the end of the year. Pretty impressive, right? </div>
<br />
So, yeah. We are hopeful. Wanted to start this good habit of saving and hopefully nurture my kids to do the same. Why don't you jump on the bandwagon too?<br />
<br />

Me? I've always tried to be on the Health track. Be it my stints at the gymnasium, cutting down on my food intake - sugar, condensed milk and the likes, drinking lots and lots of water etc. Just to add to that, lately I have been on a NO RICE diet. Been going on for a while now, I think around 2 plus months already. The rule is simple, eat whatever whenever as long as it is NOT rice. #anythingbutnasi if you may. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It is not too much to ask from me, I think because the alternatives are aplenty. I get my carbohydrates from eating pasta, bread, potatoes and the likes. It has also made me frequent my kitchen more. As my kids would normally have rice for dinner, so I end up fixing my own dinner after work. It's been quite a creative adventure in the kitchen too. Trying to come up with something that is supported by my pantry and fridge content as well as the NO rice policy. But, because of this I have tried and made:</div>

It gets a little harder when attending functions or when there's a makan-makan do at the office sometimes. As much as I could, I would opt for just the lauk-pauk sans the rice. As I would when having lunch at the office cafetaria at times. Other times, I could opt for the variety of mee / meehun and kueytiew soup / curry / Bandung / tomyam / goreng. </div>

As a reward, I do allow myself some cheat meals. For example, I have cheated for Hassan Ayam Kampung and Nasi Ayam Chee Ming. Another that I would cheat for is nasi kandar hameediyah in Penang. I mean, I don't want to deny myself totally. Just trying to cut down on rice and stay as far away from it as I can for now.<br />
<br />
It has shown some results, I guess. People have commented that I looked "kurus sikit" but it doesn't show on the weighing scale. Hewhewhew. Takpe la, but I do feel healthier and not as bloated. And that is a good thing! </div>

Have you been to Legoland Malaysia? Isn't it just A.W.E.S.O.M.E? It is just so awesome that we decided that each member of our family had to get an Annual Pass into Legoland, valid one whole year from 13th November 2012. </div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
(P/S: Please note the poses for the girls in the family. Hewhewhew)</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
We got quite a good deal on it, actually. Bought sometime in September last year when they had a joint promotion with Maybank Mastercard Credit Cards. Each adult annual pass was going at a price of only RM190 per pax. A quick check onto <a href="http://www.legoland.com.my/">Legoland</a> website just now, the price is now RM325 for Adults (12-59years) and RM225 for Kids (3-11years) and Seniors (60years above). The price is now effective from 15 December 2012 onwards. For daily passes, it's going at RM140 for Adults and RM110 for Kids and Seniors. </div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Truth be told, I think you'd need more than a day to explore the whole park. The park is divided into <a href="http://www.legoland.com.my/Explore/Activities/Entrance-Area/">The Beginning</a>, <a href="http://www.legoland.com.my/Explore/Activities/LEGO-TECHNIC/">LEGO Technic</a>, <a href="http://www.legoland.com.my/Explore/Activities/LEGO-Kingdom/">LEGO Kingdoms</a>, <a href="http://www.legoland.com.my/Explore/Activities/Imagination/">Imagination</a>, <a href="http://www.legoland.com.my/Explore/Activities/LEGO-City/">LEGO City</a>, <a href="http://www.legoland.com.my/Explore/Activities/Land-Of-Adventure/">Land of Adventure</a> and <a href="http://www.legoland.com.my/Explore/Activities/Miniland/">Miniland</a>. Each one of them have activities for kids and kids-at-heart to enjoy. When we were there, there was a LOT of people around. So the main strategy for you to consider is when to come to Legoland. I know of some people (whom shall not be named. Ahem. Ahem. read: Not us, but may or may not be related to us) who'd come on a weekday, a school day at that, to avoid the queue and have the park all to themselves. Bliss. Weekends and public holidays are of course peak times for the park. There was even one incident when a friend and his family were refused entry due to the park reaching the maximum number of clintele they could cater at any one time. They had to wait in line for some time before allowed entry eventhough they already had an annual pass. Gasp! I do understand the logic behind it though, it's for everyone to have an enjoyable experience while in the park, so yeah, do take that into considerations when deciding when to come. Our strategy now (since we already have an annual pass) is to come later in the evening, when the crowd has died down a little. Please also check what time the park closes as it varies between 6pm (weekdays) or 8pm (weekends, public holidays) daily. Also the park closes on most Wednesdays. When in doubt, check the <a href="http://www.legoland.com.my/Plan/Opening-hours/">park's website</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Okay, now what did we find most interesting??? For the roller-coaster and adrenaline junkies, these are definitely the must tries. The queue is always long but oh so worth it. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
PROJECT X at LEGO Technics. Simply awesome!!!! To date (after 4
visits to Legoland), Khadra and Khaleeda have already been on it 9
times. Yes, you read that right. Khaleeda only just made the height
requirement of 110cm but she needed to ride with an adult on it.
Khaleeq has been on Project X 3 times. He does't fancy rollercoasters
all that much.<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSpiCaAFtW5hYa265TpNH8HJhR8Aw-L4fbJQ3a3dij8MF8QcjuQUo6p1J8ifR5sVoOgYDKcX4QC0pIDsip2uxH4nhntuRGNjG5KEvqpg645vX6CrBtWuRDJLLozM-n_39ugZh1/s640/blogger-image-1530546952.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSpiCaAFtW5hYa265TpNH8HJhR8Aw-L4fbJQ3a3dij8MF8QcjuQUo6p1J8ifR5sVoOgYDKcX4QC0pIDsip2uxH4nhntuRGNjG5KEvqpg645vX6CrBtWuRDJLLozM-n_39ugZh1/s640/blogger-image-1530546952.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
The best is when we got to view the picture they snapped at the first steep incline down the tracks. We already know where the camera is located, I look forward to the poses the girls would make each time they ride. hewhewhew. You could even get the copy to bring home and you are allowed to download the softcopy within a month of the ride date. The pictures are quite steeply priced though - I mean, it is expected lah. About RM30 for the small size and RM50 for the bigger picture. sometimes they'd have promotions - buy the big picture and get the small picture for free or something. I think for the past 4 visits to Legoland, we have about enough to last us a lifetime now. ;) </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Other rides worth a mention at LEGO Technic are the Aquaracer (you'll get a little bit splashed here) and the Technic Twister (almost no queing time, it's the sort of twisting cup ride, the more you turn the central wheel, the more you will spin). There is also the water feature between Project X and the Aquaracer. My kids enjoyed getting wet. So remember to bring a change of clothes if your kids are keen too. There is also a human dryer that cost RM5 per pop if you fancy some drying action. We have also decided that it is actually best to wear their swimwear underneath the park clothes. They dry faster and your kids won't catch a cold from running around in wet clothes all day. (This idea came after our fourth visit to the park. D-uh!) </div>

At LEGO Kingdoms, check out The Dragon. Not as scary as Project X, but almost as thrilling. If you are not keen, then try The Dragon Apprentice first, to condition yourself. Suffice to say that The Dragon was also a current favourite for Khadra and Khaleeda. ;P <br />

We also found the line for Royal Joust and Merlin's Challenge shorter than most. Good variety to slip in after a long queue. If kids are too tired to que, just let them lose at one of the many playgrounds in the park - The Forestmen's Hideout. <br />

At The Land of Adventure, we absolutely adored the Dino Island. It's a wet ride, with minimum height requirement of 120cm, so Khaleeda had to sit this one out. First the whole log went up the conveyor to the tippy top of the castle before we plunge down into the waters. So cool, so fun, so scary! hahahahahahaha That was truly enjoyable!</div>

Kids enjoyed the Beetle Bounce very much - very short que. There's also the Lost Kingdom, where we get to go in a cart, shooting at targets as the vehicle moves about. Also, there's a kids' ball playground called the Pharaoh's Revenge. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
In LEGO City, we first went on to the Driving school for the elder Khas, while Khaleeda went to the Junior Driving School. Then we got their licences done. Absolutely no function what so ever, just as a momento for the kids.<br />
<br />
The family had the most fun at the Rescue Academy. If you are coming with other families, an inter family battle would be fun here!!! The line for the LEGO City Airport was rather decent too. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3CvK3vWuc3GVUWp8iNpttqrd9Y0-GF_kvRK5baqUoYC8xEPwL5bAFgRdrAGiLI7-E_IrctP7dricArL9bGpW6I0v0aJhltjxaVxEePxqT5asH1WSJfVyoPFv_mFsfsIqwk9Fj/s640/blogger-image-11616314.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3CvK3vWuc3GVUWp8iNpttqrd9Y0-GF_kvRK5baqUoYC8xEPwL5bAFgRdrAGiLI7-E_IrctP7dricArL9bGpW6I0v0aJhltjxaVxEePxqT5asH1WSJfVyoPFv_mFsfsIqwk9Fj/s640/blogger-image-11616314.jpg" /></a></div>
Other than that, there's also the LEGO City Stage where they have scheduled performances / shows through out the day and a playground for the kids called The Shipyard. Even after 4 visits, we have yet to try the LEGOLAND Express nor The Boating School. hewhewhew<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
In IMAGINATION, the have-to-sees are LEGO Studios 4D for some 4D movie screening and the Observations Tower - a short scenic overview of the theme park. Fully air-conditioned, you get to appreciate the ride as it slowly ascends the monopole and spins for a 360 degree view of the park. The Kids Power Tower was also fun, but needed a little more muscle power on our side. There's also a junior playground for kids 5 years and under called the DUPLO Playtown and there's a mini train that goes around the track. We have yet tried the Build & Test area for kids to build their own LEGO creation and test them. </div>
<br />
The Miniland is basically a LEGO wonderland showcasing grand architectures in Malaysia, as well as other countries. This provides for a lot of photo opportunities. <br />
<br />
Basically, go have a see for yourself what the fuss is all about. We are trying to slot maybe another 3-4 trips there in 2013 to make the annual pass worthwhile. One trip per quarter? That soulds about right for my planning. <br />

</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I got this recipe from the sweet @ms_tinaz over the trusted Instagram and tried it the first time 6 weeks ago. Since, I have made 2 more batches of these yummies as it proved to be popular in our household. The instructions are simple. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Ingredients:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
3 cups sifted cake flour</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
1 1/2 tsp baking soda</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
3/4 tsp baking powder</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
3/4 tsp salt</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
1 tsp ground cinnamon</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
4 large bananas, very ripe, mashed (about 2 cups)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
3/4 cups buttermilk/milk/sour cream/ yogurt</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Vanilla extract</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
3/4 butter</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
1 1/2 cups brown sugar</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
3 eggs</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
1 cup pecans/walnuts, toasted and chopped coarsely</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Instructions:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Whisk together dry ingredients in a bowl (I just sift the flour and add on the baking soda, baking powder, salt and cinnamon. whirl a bit with a hand whisk.)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Whisk together milk, bananas, vanilla in separate bowl. ( I mash the banana first. then add in the other ingredients into the banana bowl.)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
In another bowl, beat butter and brown sugar until light. (Make sure to cut the butter block into smaller rectangels. Just lump everything in your freestand mixer)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Add eggs. (One by one, of course)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Add flour mixture alternately with milk mixture in two batches. (Essentially, mentally divide flour mixture into 3- about one cup each time. Divide the milk mixture, mentally, in 2. First put in the flour mix. Wait for it to blend , then the milk mix. Wait again slightly, then the flour mix again. Wait a little more, then add the milk mix and wait. Finally add the flour mix and you should get a nice batter)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Stir in pecan. (Make sure your mixer has ben switched off here. Just use a spatula to stir)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This batter makes 12 muffin sized banana cakes and a loaf. I prefer it to be muffin sized so I get around 18 pieces from this mixture. Sometimes, I fill it up a little closer to the top so the effect is a spilled over muffin. So utterly awesome. Yummers.<br />
<br />
For baking time - the normal 12-cupcake pan takes about 20 minutes in 180Celcius and a loaf around 40-50 minutes in the same temperature. Don't forget to preheat your oven for about 10-15 minutes prior to baking. If in doubt, check with a "Cake tester" or toothpick. Prick it and it will come out clean. Take them out of the oven and let it sit for 10 minutes. Then leave them to coll off on a wire rack. It has been said that the loaf would taste best 36 hours after baking. Wallahualam. hihihihihi. It has been said, I say. So you try it and tell me, ok? <br />
<br />
Do enjoy them! Have a happy Monday and a great week ahead!</div>

Almost ending the second week of the new schooling term now. We have just started on a new rule for the household on Wednesday night. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Thou-Shalt-Not-iGadget on a weekday. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
That means no iPads, no iPods and no iPhones. Kids are expected to use their time to concentrate more on school tasks - homework, preparing the bag/book and uniform for school, doing their revision, finish their Eye Level homework etc. If they happen to have free time, then they can utilize this time for leisurely reading, cooking, making arts and crafts, outdoor activities such as biking, running, swimming or play with their physical toys - e.g. pretend play, Baby Alive, Play Doh, Lego etc. Absolutely no gadgets allowed. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The ruling starts on Sunday night from 8pm and ends at Friday at 1pm. So on Wednesday night at around </div>
<br />
OK kan? <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0n4EKKT8sYIrCRSAGLU11vtur5fytdsoQYngx7ROSETWjM4v8IZOMNaSgODrR_01F2K8jSnWstoQLkGJgs6CrgEtk8UjpQUkfXS9KSqCwOJX6f4BL0Hvtv4HXGjiLD0ROedh4/s640/blogger-image-859685609.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0n4EKKT8sYIrCRSAGLU11vtur5fytdsoQYngx7ROSETWjM4v8IZOMNaSgODrR_01F2K8jSnWstoQLkGJgs6CrgEtk8UjpQUkfXS9KSqCwOJX6f4BL0Hvtv4HXGjiLD0ROedh4/s640/blogger-image-859685609.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I just wanted the kids to try to concentrate more on their schooling and realize that the holidays are over. With the gadgets around they tend to be very anti-social, jompletely engrossed in their own world. Tak berapa nak dengan cakap because they are concentrating on whatever it was on the YouTube channel, Instagram-ing or what have yous. As a result, homework pun tak buat, baju tak siapkan, buku tak prepare for the next day's timetable, buat kerja lain pun distracted - termasuklah nak pakai baju, makan dan sebagainya. Impact would include leaving for school much later than I'd like to in the morning and menyebabkan darah Ibunya naik sampai ke kepala. Stress pagi-pagi noks. Adoiiii. And so we implemented the rule and that same Wednwsday night I collected all gadgets and kept it in my room. </div>
<br />
Come Thursday afternoon, look what I saw on my Instagram news?<br />

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
My little Khaleeda was liking my photos on Instagram. Adik main iPod kah? Kantoiii!!!! I immediately called home and asked her why she was playing with her iPod. She was surprised that I knew. Ya lah, she's at home and I was at work. How could I have possibly known. Terkejut sat member. She told me her reason was because "Atuk was watching tv" so she didn't know what else to do with her free time. Kakak Abang pun belum balik from various activities. This she is bored. Alololololo. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Here's hoping that the rule works and would improve their weekday to be more productive and focused. I'm still looking to fine tune it. May have to add not watching Plex as well. Very distracting, that. I have yet to decide on the games too - PS3, XBOX and the likes. May even want to reward them some Gadget time if they are doing well on a limited time basis. Will see as the day progresses lah. </div>

I have always loved to cook. A few years back in 2006, a long long time ago now it feels, I lobbied my husband to get me my first oven - a Zanussi ZOE535 Electric Oven/ Grill. Then on, I tried experimenting with recipes especially from the trusted Jamie Oliver and Nigella Lawson cook books. My family and close friends can vouch for our tried and tested Roast Chicken and how successful that dish is. I have even imparted my knowledge to the rest of the family. Khadra can cook it and just last week, Azrul cooked three birds for my birthday dinner celebrations with the nucleus family. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Just recently, I had a reason to expand my culinary repertoire. It came in the form of a Kitchen Aid freestanding mixer. I is love. It was on an irresistible promotion, buy the KA mixer at retail price and get the KA heavy duty 4-slice toaster for free. How can one resist? </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiTy5EnF3Ghr8efH5DLRmPdmw2td89g_Gn-ux_Z5lDFbUvDFfiN2D6nmxYxyMZxoqfiHmQ5LGlldnXOSflAsXOBT7hZF1fchOQ81quKE5JybdTSRtsrmPOh7zLhiENk2Nwnu66/s640/blogger-image-1359026124.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="312" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiTy5EnF3Ghr8efH5DLRmPdmw2td89g_Gn-ux_Z5lDFbUvDFfiN2D6nmxYxyMZxoqfiHmQ5LGlldnXOSflAsXOBT7hZF1fchOQ81quKE5JybdTSRtsrmPOh7zLhiENk2Nwnu66/s320/blogger-image-1359026124.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
With that came more experiment. With the help of more Mr. Google, cook books (Nigella lawson's Domestic Goddess is an example) and a lot of tags and recipe hunting on instagram I am proud to share with you some of my success stories. Featured here are the Victoria Sponge cake, Mixed berry pavlova (you better believe it, girlfriend!), Blueberry yogurt cake and Banana pecan muffin (and loaf). Yummers... <br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Instant gratification. Baking is not as hard as it seems, really. I have a lot to share in this respect too. All fueled up by the instant feedback that I get from posting it on Instagram and also looking at my timeline. hihihihihi. Hoping that this won't end up to be one of my HHTA (Hangat-Hangat-Tahi-Ayam) projects though. </div>

I recently received an e-mail from my mom with the subject title "<b>Please print hard copies all the notes I fwded to all of you and file them up. Most important teach your children. I have made it easier for you, doing the research since I understand you are all busy with work etc.</b>"</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So, I immediately got into action. A direct instruction on the subject field of an e-mail. Who am I to disobey, right? Mom had been sending us interesting articles and stuff that she found on the Internet for some time already. I think probably when she first got her iPad2. You know stuff like "Carrots, Eggs & Coffee", "VitaminD revealed to be miracle anti-cancer drug with astonishing chemical properties", "Hidden health plusses in tea and coffee", various do'as and the likes. It was around October 2012 that she sent all her kids an email entitled "Belajar Dan Amalkan Ilmu AlQuran" and wrote a heartfelt note for us all as a reminder. This was the point when she decided to send us notes on what she has learnt as the days go by. She calls it "Tazkirah Ibu". I have shared a photo of some of her notes over in Instagram and some of my friends are interested to know what it says. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4F1UrvANr1JAunoMVQGhjuTM1MqhWxl5_uVdg8R-7Yl1JKvGO7tsLg4L2poGGBmTr-w8wI1rV6ZtRm4m2MqgsxSPlqXQroXmLvgGoLcsXwnNJrRwn6JFweCXJvQBOCwUVHTUw/s640/blogger-image--1503497254.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4F1UrvANr1JAunoMVQGhjuTM1MqhWxl5_uVdg8R-7Yl1JKvGO7tsLg4L2poGGBmTr-w8wI1rV6ZtRm4m2MqgsxSPlqXQroXmLvgGoLcsXwnNJrRwn6JFweCXJvQBOCwUVHTUw/s640/blogger-image--1503497254.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So I thought, yeah, why not. I'm starting a series of Tazkirah Ibu here on my blog. Gives me the material to start blogging too. Hihihihihihi. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So, here's my official comeback to the blogging world. (Oh how I have forsaken thee) and I will leave you with my mummy's note. A reminder for you and also for me. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i>"To All Our Offsprings,</i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i>Please take time to read this and share with your spouses and offsprings. Ibu ,on behalf of Encik ,will try to extend to you everyweek, please compile so you can transfer this treasure to your own children.</i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i>For your info,Mak Itam and her surau committee is conducting Kelas Tafsir Alquran every Wednesday and I will try to attend whenever possible at the surau near Mak Itam's house. I will also extend these notes to you so you can compile them for your own family. Maybe we could also forward to you notes from otner majlis ilmu that we attend.</i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i>I decided to do this because both Encik and I have been trying to talk to you all about the importance of acquiring knowledge (menuntut Ilmu) specifically the knowledge of Islam.</i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i>For people of your age group ,since you are so busy with work and kids,it is not easy to juggle your time so start with the habit by attending majls2 ilmu to top up our amalan yang sangat sedikit ini. Actually it is the easiest and smartest way to kumpul pahala, you just need to make the effort to attend. Insyaallah jika di panjangkan umur,boleh lah terus belajar secara lebih aktif selepas pencen, Amin.</i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i>You can practise "smart ibadat" eg listening to radio ,cd ceramah and bacaan alquran (eg radio Ikim) in the car, watching tv programmes eg tv9, tv3, tv1 ,astro there is plenty of such programmes.Train your children same way, make them hafal all the important doas as I did to you all on way to Sri Petaling, Sri Aman, remember? This is the best age to lentur the buluh ie masa rebung.Kalau dah keras susah nak ajar,nanti mereka akan melawan, buat maksiat ,tak mahu solat, you are the ones who will suffer. Fyi at my age I am still hafaling surah2 penting in the car while driving.</i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i>Jangan terlalu ghairah cari harta dan kemasyhuran dunia sampai jauhkan diri dari Allah walhal Allah yang beri kita semua rezeki. Allah can withdraw anything at anytime from us if he decides to do so. Of course usaha untuk harta dunia mesti di teruskan juga tapi jangan sampai lupa Allah. There are so many young people who die due to heartattacks etc. Nothing can help them except amal jariah, ilmu yang bermenafaat and doa anak 2 yang soleh.Those without all these bekalan die Muflis, nothing can help them. Kesian mereka. Nauzubillah.</i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i>It is not too late for you my beloved children to tingkatkan your keimanan to Allah. Of course start minta ampun dari Allah, banyak2 istighfar, Allah maha pengampun. Minta ampun dosa2 lepas dan start afresh. It is never too late.Kita boleh taubat sebelum nyawa di cabut. Jaga dan lengkapkan solat dan amalkan rukun Islam, rukun Iman dan jangan buat yang dilarang. As simple as that!</i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i>Teach the kids doa2 harian, Start everything with Bismillah and bersyukur with Alhamdulillah. Make it a habit so Syaitan will not get inside them and easily astray them. I don't want you to regret later for not bringing up your children mengikut ajaran Islam sebenar.</i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i>Ibu and Encik do not want you all to regret later, when we are di alam barzakh(kubur) (remember all humans will die) , nothing else can help us to reduce the azab seksa and seterusnya masuk syorga except amal/sedekah jariah yg di buat semasa hidup, ilmu yang dimanafaatan oleh orang yang masih hidup dan doa anak2 yang soleh. Just imagine kalau kita sendiri hidup tak pernah bersedekah, beramal, baca AlQuran, doa dan buat baik kepada ibu bapa, would you expect your children to do the same to you? Kalau anak tak solat cukup macam mana doanya nak sampai, kalau tak pernah baca quran macam mana ayat2 Quran nak datang tolong kita dikubur semasa nak kena gigit ular dan sesengkala etc? This the kind of Ilmu that I want my children and my menantus and my cucu cicit to pelajari dan amalkan. They must know this so that they appreciate and practise.These knowledge does not come in one manual that you can buy from the bookshops like MPH, Popular Book Store etc. They have to be acquired from majlis2 ilmu, tazkirah, ceramah. Because ibu and encik know you are too busy to attend majls ilmu that is why we are trying to find best way to share with you all.</i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i>Also please try to get your children to hafal AlQuran. Tak semestinya 30 juzuk. Now is the time kalau boleh mulai umur 4 tahun dah boleh hantar kelas AlQuran. Start from Tadika Islam.At least one in the family should be a tahfiz.</i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i>I have decided to write this note since both Encik and I don't seem tobe able to get us together for our own mini majlis ilmu / baca Quran.Actually we have so much to transfer to you all but we never seem tobe able to be together full quorum long enough at any one session. Maybe you all discuss to solve this issue and put forward your suggestions to us."</i></div>
</blockquote>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Just an honest sharing and reminder from a mom. Thank you mom, we all need reminders some time. Me heart you long time. </div>

Been meaning to write about my boy. But every time I started writing, hatiku mula sebak. Don't know why exactly, just pilu and mellowed. But I need to write this down. Who knows it might be of some use to others out there. This is just our own experience with dealing and recognizing that our kid has Asperger's syndrome. (the 'g' is pronounced as in get)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
There's nothing physically wrong with him, he looks just like any ordinary 8 year old. Strikingly handsome, if I may add so myself. A completely able bodied, perfectly healthy 8 year old and for that I am truly grateful. Alhamdulillah. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrHbtrwI6Gswaw5avVjAm5tV_x2COExgCAyTliEd9EYg_q7pFk_X_fU_OtEx6ZqicuslV1jgqrqUQkCeQkD91R-oDw_gH8aFVflTPs40WEXjtXeEak6dxfC2TYxGxHis0wTV8d/s640/blogger-image--1018010080.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrHbtrwI6Gswaw5avVjAm5tV_x2COExgCAyTliEd9EYg_q7pFk_X_fU_OtEx6ZqicuslV1jgqrqUQkCeQkD91R-oDw_gH8aFVflTPs40WEXjtXeEak6dxfC2TYxGxHis0wTV8d/s640/blogger-image--1018010080.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Khaleeq developed his speech a little later than his siblings. He still couldn't speak at 3 years old. We took him to the peads one day and was referred to an audiologist to test his hearing. Turned out there was nothing wrong with his middle ear and he started speaking just slightly after that. So we chilled and life went on as usual. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
My boy, however, speaks with an American accent. Don't know where he gets it from. But the slang is distinct and sometimes he speaks in a high pitch. He would also repeat himself at times, almost echoing. He is filled with emotions - be it good or bad. He's not able to hide how he feels. He could be extremely upset over something and as soon as you explain the situation he'd be OK about it. Just like that. I don't really know how to explain it - almost turning on and off like a switch. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Overall though, he is a happy child. He has a pure heart. Always thinking about the less fortunate - the orphans, etc. Kelantanese would call him budak yang "jughuh".</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
We noticed that Khaleeq however did not particularly speak much Malay. Even when he started his primary schooling, he didn't pick up the language like Khadra did when she was at that age. Seeing that his year was when the newly introduced KSSR started, this posed as a challenge for him as Math and also Science was taught in Malay. About four to five months into schooling, we decided on a BM tutor for him. He goes to Miss Mahyuni three times a week, for about an hour at a time. With her, he picked up on his bacaan and some understanding of the language. Mahyuni was also the one who asked me to get Khaleeq diagnosed for autism. That came as a big shock to me. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"He looked perfectly fine. How could he be autistic?" Those were the thoughts that ran through my mind. It was pretty hard to swallow. I remember crying (for I don't know what reason) and calling my husband just trying to understand. Looking back, I am thankful for that initial suggestion of diagnosis as it was my turning point to handle Khaleeq's challenges at school. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
After his half year exams, we saw that he was quite behind as compared to his other classmates. Challenges in school were aplenty. He had trouble finishing his work at school. Especially copying from the board. Of course he wasn't very good in reading Malay yet and his English reading was OK but not very fluent. So that contributed. And there's the language barrier to boot. Add to that his lack of concentration, short attention span and distractions. Yeah. A little handful. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
He works hard though. When he gets home, he'd go through his work with me. I would have to get pictures of the school work from either the board, a friend's book or from the network of mothers in his class and we would be doing school work after school work. He is also good at marking his activity book on the pages that he needs to complete. So that helped. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
However, even with all that he is still behind as compared to his peers. Mainly due to the language. So, at the end of 2011, we decided to get him diagnosed. To know what we are dealing with and to be able to help him better. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
His diagnosis forom Gleneagles read : highly functioning autism - Asperger's Syndrome. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
That's all for now, I'll continue this later lah. There's a lot of details to share. I'll break it down bit by bit. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

Marks a significant part of my life as two of my boys celebrate their birthdays one day after another. Khaleeq turned 8 yesterday on the 30th and Inche Azrul celebrates his 35th today. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjb8J4ylpDb_Ki-4bC2KOS3MoeiJFKr2ytT5xE_MPJreHnEz1k2Dk3GqFckrYUyTZ4ZmyS3h9OkC0x7Bbm_cs_Cy8s2PcD6eHtIWJw8pLKn8oCN_1AQtg5l7vc3EqZkI8A6UZe3/s640/blogger-image--1825375357.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjb8J4ylpDb_Ki-4bC2KOS3MoeiJFKr2ytT5xE_MPJreHnEz1k2Dk3GqFckrYUyTZ4ZmyS3h9OkC0x7Bbm_cs_Cy8s2PcD6eHtIWJw8pLKn8oCN_1AQtg5l7vc3EqZkI8A6UZe3/s640/blogger-image--1825375357.jpg" /></a></div>
As per customary in our little family, each kid would receive at least one present on every birthday celebration - so multiple bodies were actually counting the days to Khaleeq's birthday. ;) Khaleeq is now into Lego Hero Factory and Lego City series, while Khaleeda is in her Play Doh stage. Khadra is not very much into toys so she opted for a headphone for her iPod instead (turning into a teenager too fast that girl). Everyone got their choice of poison last weekend so the present section was pretty much sorted out, thankfully. <br />
<br />
When asked about his day in school, Khaleeq said a few of his friends wished him "Happy Birthday" and he was quite pleased with that. He had also apparently invited some friends to Kidzania for his birthday party at 3pm yesterday. I hope none of the kids dragged their parents coz we didn't plan to have the KidZania party until later. Adoii la Khaleeq. Comel betul. <br />
<br />
We had a quiet dinner last night with just the family unit and my sweetheart of a husband ran to tapau the usual suspects from Chili's to add on to our berbuka menu. He even managed to get Khaleeq the Baskin Robbin's ice cream cake for moreh later. Yeay, husband! Suffice to say little man is mighty pleased with his day, he even have another City package yet to be opened as at late last night. That'll keep him happy throughout the week, me thinketh. <br />
<br />
After the kids went to bed, me and the husband had a little rendezvous with my sisters at Pelita SS2 for some Maggi goreng tak nak sayur telur goyang. A little sahur get together of sorts to mark my man's birthday. No definitive plans for today as yet. But we do have Jamoca Almond Fudge ice cream cake in the fridge along with 3 big candles and 5 small candles with Azrul's name all over it. We'll see la. Must be the age catching up. Hahaha. <br />
<br />
Happy birthday dearests. You know that I love you and you. <br />
<br />
-dillz blogging out-dillazaghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11972035427389045255noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9988039.post-11973254363876026602012-07-14T17:45:00.001+08:002012-08-06T12:20:21.668+08:00And he's offJust got back from sending Inche @azrulx at the airport with the kids. Thing is with the family unit, I have always been the organizer for our travels. One that thinks about checking in, visas, getting the meds stocked up and most importantly pack. Have you tried packing up a family of 5 into 2 (sometimes 3) suitcases? It does get a little complicated and you need to start doing it days in advance just in case you forgot something, you know. Even then, almost always I end up still packing til 5am on the day of our travels. Tak boleh nak buat apa la. I'm the Queen Procrastinator if you don't already know. <br />
<br />
Letting him go on his own, well that's not entirely new. He has been away on business trips and several golf and F1 trips on his own before. But, going to the Holy Land. Ada sifat-sifat jeles sedikit di situ on my part. Thing is we have been talking about it for a while now. Been wanting to go, the two of us. Turns out the rezeki and opportunity came for him unexpectedly. By chance, no, by the gracious invitation of Allah swt. Logically it was a little sudden, he didn't go to any umrah kursus what so ever, the timing was for a week and he missed fasting in the month of Ramadhan just by a day. There were times when he was rethinking and questioning on the possible journey pun. But in the end, I'm so glad he took the step to accept the invite and went ahead with the travel plans. <br />
<br />
As for his preps, everything came together quite nicely. He's been speaking to a few friends who've been and done the Umrah. I've supplied various books for him to speed read on his flight. ;) Yes, I already have a few. Last night, my dad gave him a crash course too - complete with another demonstration on how to wear the ihram. (Yes, he is too sweet) He is packing really light - a first for any of us. Hahahahaha. And last night I prepared his short solat recap points and the doa book. Ewa and Ema managed to squeeze theirs in as well. I have reminded him to translate the SMS and pesanan from friends into the book as well. I also took some extracts from the Travelog Haji and customized it for him. Sebak juga dada when I was preparing the doa for our family. <br />
<br />
I shall miss him. We shall miss him. Khaleeq is already getting a fever. Hopefully not from missing his buddy boo. It's OK though. I know we will be OK. I also pray that we get to do this as a family unit next year. Insya Allah kalau ada rezeki. <br />

Sedar tak sedar it's already July the 13th. We have passed the half year mark about 2 weeks now and what do we really have to show for it?<br />
<br />
As usual, my postings have been tardy and far in between. I really have no excuse for it. Just been caught up in life I guess. A lot has happened since my last entry. Even then I really wanted to write a lot more on life in general. <br />
<br />
We've been pretty light on the feet this year - been quite to a number of places. Some for the first time,some a revisit but with a different experience altogether. In fact my husband would be embarking on his journey to the Holy Land tomorrow morning. Insya Allah. I wish him well on his journey, semoga mendapar Umrah yang mabrur Insya Allah. <br />
<br />
Belum rezeki lagi for me to follow this time around. A little tied in the cuti department. I have essentially used / booked up all my entitlement this year. So hopefully tahun depan dapat lah saya jejak Tanah Haram untuk menunaikan ibadah, Insya Allah. <br />
<br />
In any case, I've been reading up on "Travelog Haji" by Muhd Kamil Ibrahim. Came highly recommended by my girlfriends. I'm very moved by the doa he has at the end of the book. It's entitled Memohon Keistimewaan. <br />

I have turned 37 years old exactly 2 months ago and yet this is my first post in 2012. hahahahahahaha. Pathetic, I know. </div><div><br /></div>Ampun tuanku beribu ampun. Relapse lagi penyakit malas nak berblog saya ni. Sorry lah banyak-banyak tuan-tuan dan puan-puan. In all honesty, I have kind of missed writing my unfiltered ramblings and in fact I do have quite a lot to write about. Just never found the time to. Alasan, I know. But there is some truth to it. <div><br /></div><div>There has been good news and not so good news. But, I guess we live through it, don't we? Such is life. There is also a lot to look forward to this year. Especially in the travels department, Insya Allah. For starters, there's the Bali eco culture trip in the upcoming March school holidays. (we flying off this Saturday, dude!) In June, we already have our cheap cheap air fare to Sydney. TQ Air Asia X. And Insya Allah, looking for a special place to spend our 10th year anniversary in September. Kat mana nak pergi? Masih dalam perancangan. Kalau jadi sok, saya share lah. In any case, I have gone back to the gym in the quest to be slightly fitter and less gemuk by then. hahahahahaha Saya juga telah register untuk Energizer Night Run in April. Yes, I did! hihihihihihi (Jangan excited sangat, 5km Fun Run je)</div><div><br /><div>OK lah dulu. Nanti update lagi.</div></div><div><br /></div><div>-dillz blogging out-</div>dillazaghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11972035427389045255noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9988039.post-80054795913302603672011-12-18T11:50:00.003+08:002011-12-19T15:03:28.812+08:00Of family reunion<div style="text-align: justify;">Despite sleeping around 6am this morning *<span style="font-style: italic;">buat report la apa lagi</span>* we made our way to Taman Tenaga to attend the "Majlis Waris Dan Keturunan YAM Pengiran Sura Negara Pengiran Anak Badarudin (Jurai Tok Mamat)" at 10am this morning.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgktANISPF8BxkB_qrxAFVzBSdNVOiQtmZvCzt4fvlL-6Dzj2Z0sHQKZetDyvg3D0fQgCDL13f1F9QuH1K593jmxlYbO-F38cUWmCw208CpGUadEU4nyoiohBhp3Ut_Zh6RIQxP/s640/blogger-image-558288913.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgktANISPF8BxkB_qrxAFVzBSdNVOiQtmZvCzt4fvlL-6Dzj2Z0sHQKZetDyvg3D0fQgCDL13f1F9QuH1K593jmxlYbO-F38cUWmCw208CpGUadEU4nyoiohBhp3Ut_Zh6RIQxP/s640/blogger-image-558288913.jpg" border="0" /></a></div><br />Apparently <span style="font-style: italic;">kami adalah bau-bau bacang dengan</span> the Brunei royalties. Focus! Focus!<div style="text-align: justify;">So much to do. So much to do.<br /><br />There has been quite a lot that has happened this past month, concerning the kids. Especially concerning the kids. As usual, mommy hasn't had time to update, has she? hihihihihihi<br /><br />It's been pretty hectic at the work front too. I have finally gotten some things finalized and am still<span style="font-style: italic;"> gungho</span> with several more projects in hand. Insya Allah. <span style="font-style: italic;">Dipermudahkan. Aminn..</span> I have also picked up on my reading in the past month. Somehow, I gravitated to malay fiction this time around. Finished reading several #BukuFixi publications - Jerat, Pecah, Kougar, Dendam and Kasino and @elviza's Kerna Terpaksa. In my reading list currently is FauziahAshari's Ombak Rindu and another #BukuFixi Ngeri. :P<br /><span style="font-style: italic;"></span><br />At this juncture, most of the kids activities has slowed down somewhat. To date, we have completed:<br /></div><ul style="text-align: justify;"><li>Khaleeda's 4th birthday celebrations - this time around she had it at Barbie Store. <span style="font-style: italic;">Beria</span>, I tell you. But, the princess had a great time with the makeovers and catwalk with her friends. :)<br /></li><li>Khadra's Kickstart Internal Grading for her rhythmic gymnastics. The grading determined whether she could go up to Grade 1 level from Little Gymnast level.<br /></li><li>Khadra completed her School Holiday gymnastics program - with a Russian coach. Woohoo!<br /></li><li>Khadra and Khaleeq's TTG final performance for this year, in conjuction with Didance's year end showcase at KLPAC.<br /></li><li>Khadra and Khaleeq performed their yearly drama at KLPAC last week, on the 30th November and 1st December 2011. This year's title is T3 = The Equation. The endangered animals in the highlights this year were the tapirs, tenggiling and tembadaus.<br /></li><li>Khaleeq undergoing his prelim diagnosis for his condition. Insya Allah, will be concluded by month-end. </li><li>Khaleeda started her <span style="font-style: italic;">mengaji.</span> Yeay! </li></ul><div style="text-align: justify;">Till I get more time to type in this space. I'll definitely try to elaborate the above points. With pictures too, if I have the might! Too-da-loo.<br /></div><br />-dillz blogging out-dillazaghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11972035427389045255noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9988039.post-50166173747789492402011-11-15T01:10:00.001+08:002011-11-15T01:14:22.805+08:00My Junior Masterchefs<div style="text-align: justify;">The two Khas entered a Scottigami competition at their school early this month. In simple terms, the kids had to fold Scott kitchen towel into an object. Thus, the name Scott + Origami = Scottigami. Khadra wanted to make lillies and Khaleeq wanted to make frogs. So, we googled how to fold them and spent some good time making them. Thanks to the abundance of accessories (pipe cleaners, flower cutout, feathers and googly eyes) to decorate the kitchen towels from our trusted Doodle drawer, we were able to come up with the following.<br /></div><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">Tadaa..... </span><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNnZLrpshyphenhyphen15ZPuakv0kRAaif2W0Hrzhs8EuwBmYAzvEF4DsqPBr3zVw1izzS-kA2aQxndVPBiLwUjDiesauAEbuk42Ph4cpsN78KTfKRXDBnPDkyt9jbkCoL7j-tejnhERWD7/s1600/Scottigami.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNnZLrpshyphenhyphen15ZPuakv0kRAaif2W0Hrzhs8EuwBmYAzvEF4DsqPBr3zVw1izzS-kA2aQxndVPBiLwUjDiesauAEbuk42Ph4cpsN78KTfKRXDBnPDkyt9jbkCoL7j-tejnhERWD7/s320/Scottigami.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5674731959832011794" border="0" /></a><span style="font-style: italic;">Boleh tahan, la... There wasn't actual or proper cooking per se - no pots nor pans needed - more like chopping, mixing, squeezing, whisking and assembling. I let Khaleeq do most of the steps, with guidance, of course. Especially while chopping stuff. <span style="font-style: italic;">Adoi, seriau acik</span>... <span style="font-style: italic;">Tak sempat nak menjeling meja sebelah </span>to see how the father-daughter duo was doing. <span style="font-style: italic;">OK lah tu. Cik mek</span> Khadra <span style="font-style: italic;">tu boleh diharap.</span> We successfully completed the wrap and both kids completely devoured their fruits of labour. <span style="font-style: italic;">Sedap juga.. </span>Mommy <span style="font-style: italic;">dapatlah merasa beberapa</span> bites.<br /><br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLQ64lgtTlQbSvvI_oi_kIrvj-4vDdDNAE2YDqUhccE8XtrwVntsCaElmHIUyuKRanyJkrSziMDA2gIOlnfmjLEpdb22Uqn4Gs4DYBVSrp7Hr2jDo7ZL5SslqLyo_eajjlkzWL/s1600/Scottigami5.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLQ64lgtTlQbSvvI_oi_kIrvj-4vDdDNAE2YDqUhccE8XtrwVntsCaElmHIUyuKRanyJkrSziMDA2gIOlnfmjLEpdb22Uqn4Gs4DYBVSrp7Hr2jDo7ZL5SslqLyo_eajjlkzWL/s320/Scottigami5.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5674891857095039666" border="0" /></a>Next up was smoothies making. Can't believe how simple the steps were. The chef encouraged the kids to try a few different combinations. Personally, I liked the banana-oreo the best. And I have also concluded that peanut butter does not go well into a smoothie. Period!<br /><br /><div style="text-align: justify;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhT5Q_xbQPIR9kd4q40EndWbGNtK9mRWDBSSqVMbxg58_U5mfm2PzW1HfecM82mW4Z7clkUHceVjJPCemNVrASL7zqRL777rACSthBhX5RN-HmG75WQGQPorgpjRcKFMy7kN6rW/s1600/Scottigami6.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhT5Q_xbQPIR9kd4q40EndWbGNtK9mRWDBSSqVMbxg58_U5mfm2PzW1HfecM82mW4Z7clkUHceVjJPCemNVrASL7zqRL777rACSthBhX5RN-HmG75WQGQPorgpjRcKFMy7kN6rW/s320/Scottigami6.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5674891855671527346" border="0" /></a>Session ended with group photos and interviews. Kids were happy. Parents were happy. <span style="font-style: italic;">Mana taknya, kenyang perut, suka hati lah...</span><br /><span style="font-style: italic;"></span><br />I am actually very grateful that we got this opportunity to participate in this kind of workshop with the kids. It showed them that cooking is really not that hard to do and every single one can actually whip something up in the kitchen. In fact, we already bought a smoothie blender last weekend. Made a few batches of smoothies with the kids' help. (I added a few scoops of Bulla vanilla ice-cream into the recipe though. hahahaha) They are very interested and I hope to get the kids more involved in the future too. <span style="font-style: italic;">Sebelum ni pun, ada la jugak tolong sikit-sikit</span>, especially when baking cookies and brownies. Part <span style="font-style: italic;">goreng-menggoreng, potong-memotong ni</span>, I <span style="font-style: italic;">tak berani nak</span> let them in yet.
